I live and paint in Vancouver, Washington. I started painting in the 1990s while living in Bend, Oregon. My first efforts were a “do-it-yourself” way to decorate our home, but I soon found that I was producing more art than I had wall space.

One of my main influences is my friend and mentor, Avalon Parsons, whose oil paintings have been shown in galleries throughout Oregon. Like Ms. Parsons, I often use a palette knife as my only application tool when painting landscapes in oil, but I pick up my brushes to create works that include human and animal figures.

My approach to art is to capture a place, a moment, or a memory in the hope that the viewer can experience it with me.

I also produce a line of canvas tote bags painted with acrylics under the name “Used Art." The subjects for my canvas bag pieces are usually more whimsical, such as otters, bears, cows, and the occasional nutria.

Feel free to contact me with questions about the artwork. Artwork is not very suitable for online sales, so I only sell tote bags through this site. If you find something in the gallery that sparks your interest, email me and I will let you know whether it is available and provide you with further information on the piece. I'm happy to fill you in on specifics about a particular piece, what inspired it, or how I created it. I'm also open to subject suggestions and special requests.
